Pietroske Chevrolet Goes To Bat for Manitowoc Youth Baseball Association as Part of Chevy Youth Baseball Initiative Sweeping Nation

Pietroske Chevrolet to provide Manitowoc Youth Baseball Association with new equipment, monetary donation, instructional clinics; Additional funds via Chevy Vehicle Giveaway

Manitowoc (April 26, 2010) –  Pietroske Chevrolet announced today it will be investing support in Manitowoc through a partnership with Manitowoc Youth Baseball Association.  Pietroske Chevrolet will provide baseball equipment, instructional clinics, a monetary donation, and an opportunity to raise an additional $10,000 in funds through a Chevy vehicle giveaway-fundraiser.  The effort by Pietroske Chevrolet is part of the Chevy Youth Baseball initiative sweeping the nation from March through July 2010.

“Chevrolet has a long history with baseball at the national level.  We wanted to bring that excitement and commitment to youth baseball, in the communities where our customers and their families live,” said Bob Pietroske, of Pietroske Chevrolet. “Youth baseball has always played an important role in Manitowoc so we are thrilled to support our kids in a meaningful way.”

Pietroske Chevrolet will present the Manitowoc Youth Baseball Association with equipment kits complete with equipment bags, baseball buckets, dry-erase coach’s clipboards and Chevy Youth Baseball t-shirts.  The sponsorship includes clinics with experienced instructors from former MLB/MiLB players and coaches or the Ripken Baseball professional staff.

In addition, a one-time monetary donation check will be presented by Pietroske Chevrolet to Manitowoc Youth Baseball Association.  The team also will have an opportunity to raise additional funds for their use as part of a Chevy Youth Baseball Fundraiser.  Sponsored leagues across the country will each receive 2,000 fundraiser entry tickets to distribute for a suggested donation, and the league will keep 100% of proceeds raised.  At the end of the fundraiser, there will be five winners of a Chevy Equinox or Chevy Malibu vehicle of choice (up to $30,000 in value), and in each participating market there will be a secondary prize of a home entertainment center valued at $1,000.

Chevrolet is recognized on the national level as the “Official Vehicle of Major League Baseball.”  “At some point, we hope the kids or their parents will consider a Chevrolet as an official vehicle of their household,” said Pietroske.  “Our vehicles are ideal for transporting families, teams and their gear.”

Chevrolet has expanded its support of MLB to the youth baseball players in communities across the country through the Chevy Youth Baseball program. The Chevy Youth Baseball program began in Atlanta in 2006. Now in its fifth season, the grass roots initiative has activation in more than 20 states and seeks to establish a positive connection between local dealers and the communities they serve.   Since its beginning, more than $7 million dollars has been raised by Chevy for community youth baseball leagues.

Ward's Dealer Business, Sep 1, 2006

MANITOWOC, WI — General Motors dealer and community activist Bob Pietroske is heading to a familiar spot, city hall, for a photo shoot of him as Ward's 2006 Dealer of the Year.
“Maybe they'll think I'm running for mayor,” he laughs. “Better they're talking about me than someone else.”
Ironically, Pietroske used to own the land on which the city hall is built. He sold it to the city in 1990, prior to moving to a new facility.
Just a few months ago, Pietroske galvanized local business leaders to convince Manitowoc City's city council to stop a 28% storm water fee it was planning to levy on the city's citizens.
Pietroske says he learned of the impending council vote on a Friday afternoon. The vote was scheduled for the following Monday night.
By 9:30 a.m. Monday, 32 business leaders gathered in Pietroske's dealership to strategize on how to get the city council to delay the vote. They were successful, and within several months the measure was dead.
That's one example of the effect Pietroske has had on his community through the years as a car dealer and citizen.
Pietroske is a mainstay in this community with a population of 70,000. For 29 years, he has owned a number of dealerships in the area. He since has cut back to one store, Pietroske Inc., selling Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chevrolet medium truck, GMC and Pontiac brands.
“That's all I want,” he says.
There are two other dealerships in Manitowoc, a Ford and Lincoln Mercury store, and a Chrysler dealership, formerly owned by Pietroske and now owned by a former service manager of his. There are no import stores in town.
For the most part, Pietroske stays out of local politics because he does not want to give people a reason not to buy from his dealership. Instead, much of his community involvement focuses on charities.
But this one time he felt he had to do something. “It would have hurt a lot | Read More >>
